| SITA Standsfor ‘Spare-In-The-Air’. It combines the redundant backup of yourdata with a spare server that is held in reserve for emergency use. This is the ultimate disaster contingency plan for your server and data.
SITA addresses two areas of risk to which you are presently exposed. - First, your tape backups are not very reliable. Experience has proventhat because of bad tapes, missing tapes, drives or procedures, failures and missing data can be expected.
- Second, the time it takes to replace a lost server, such as to water, fire, theft – is up to three, four, five plus days. That’s too long. Worse, if the server is lost and no good backup is available, we can’t“fix” it.
How it works. Wewill install a DPU (Data Protection Unit) at your location. Thisis a network device that continually backs up your mission criticalservers onto its own disk drive arrays. Weare completely responsible for the installation, operation andmaintenance of the DPU, your IT people need not be concerned with it. TheDPU uses the Internet to securely ‘sync’ your data offsite to the Vaultdevice at our location. We will continuously house your mostrecent master backups. We will have a spare server of comparable config-uration ready to be loaded with your last master backup when required. This server will be shipped to you in the fastest way possible for you to simply plug in and go. | | | 1. Data Vaulting Daily backups of yourservers’ data to our off site location. This level provides peaceof mind knowing that your business critical information is safe‘some-where-else’ | | 2. Spare Server You may qualify toparticipate in our priority temporary server replacement plan. This is where we will send you a server to replace your damaged serverin time of crises. | We will house your data inour Data Vault. You no longer have to assign a person to rememberto take your master backup tape home or contract with a service to pickup your data tape and take it away. Your data is kept secure at two levels. Our DPU is installed at your location. We are completely responsible for the operation and maintenance of this equipment. Our Data Vault serverreceives your server backup information on a nightly basis over theInternet. Your last master backup information will always resideon our off site Data Vault.
When the need arises wewill work with you to restore whatever portions of data is requiredfrom either the local DPU or our remote Vault server. |
| In time of crisis we have aserver of comparable configuration on reserve. This server, in amoments notice, will be loaded with your data. This server willhave all your programs, applications and operating systems restored andfunctional. The net result is that youhave a ‘virtual’ spare ready for you at any time, with out the burdenand cost of purchasing an entire copy of your production serveragain. We do all the maintenance of keeping this ‘copy’ of yourserver up to date. Our Spare-In-The-Air reserved server cost is spread over several clients to save you money.
